2010-11 Annual Report

This year we decided to save trees and produce an online version of the report - go here - and a printable pdf synopsis of the main stories in both high (8.2 MB) and low (760 KB) resolution versions. 2008-09 Annual Report

This was a very positive year of rebuilding and growth. Following on President Toope's unqualified support for CFIS and interdisciplinary research and teaching at UBC, Professor Mike Burgess took the reigns of CFIS in March 2008,  with Associate Principal's Sneja Gunew and Tim Cheek joining later that summer to solidify leadership. CFIS then undertook an organizational review to find out what the best structure for CFIS might look like, and hired more development and IT staff to fill out the administrative support provided to units and programs. CFIS faculty taught 165 courses across UBC this year, and our researchers continued to garner international recognition, awards, and grants for research that is helping address some of society's most complex and compelling issues.

2007-08 Annual Report

This was a rollercoaster year for CFIS. It began with the announcement of Professor Grant Ingram as the founding principal of CFIS, followed ten weeks later with shocking news of his sudden death. The resulting ten months have been a period of positive re-building. CFIS found a new home in the CK Choi building, hosted the first ever "Advancing Interdisciplinary" symposium, found a new leader in Principal Michael Burgess, and gained commitment and support from UBC senior administration. And of course the students and researchers continued to produce outstanding work.

2006-07 Annual Report

The College has gone through a period of tremendous change and transformation since the interdisciplinary faculty, units, programs and residential colleges were split off from the Faculty of Graduate Studies in June of 2006 and the College was created by UBC Senate effective January 1, 2007.
