New deadlines:

HSS Interal awards deadline: the next competition deadline is APRIL 15th, 2011
Funding for this award is made available through the annual SSHRC Institutional Award.  This award is specifically designed to promote research in the Humanities and Social Sciences with the emphasis being on preliminary or exploratory research that could lead to a future SSHRC application.  The maximum amount of the award is $7,000 for one year.  Please download the form here (MS-Word format).

• CFI Leaders Opportunity Fund: the next deadline TBA in early 2011
  I am pleased to announce that CFIS has received additional funding for the CFI Leaders Opportunity Fund (LOF). The LOF is an infrastructure program, generally aimed at “new” hires; however, this pool has been allocated in such a way that it can be used by existing "senior" faculty. If accessing this fund interests you, and you have a program in mind that fits within the framework of the LOF, we would like to invite you to submit a notice of intent for consideration. CFIS will be inviting suitable candidates to make a submission to the CFI-LOF in a future round of the LOF competition. Please bear in mind that this funding is a ONE TIME allocation, and thus we are considering a limit of $50,000 per applicant (this would translate to a total project budget of $120,000). • Policy changes
• October 30th 2008 - We are pleased to present a condensed version of UBC's regulations on requesting Honoraria payments. See Guidelines for Faculty Honoraria and External Consulting payments.
• September 4th 2008 - Indirect Costs. Please read the letter from Dr John Hepburn (VP Research) regarding the changes to UBC's overhead policy. Please note that the changes are effective October 1st.
• November 7th 2007 - Use of UBC's Benefits Cost Calculator now required. Please use this calculator for all salary lines on grant etc. applications.
• August 15th 2007 - Recent changes to CIHR's Ethics Policy on working with Aboriginal Peoples. This is "required" reading for those working with Aboriginal comunities! More details here.
